An observation (US-based, especially in 1st generation immigrant communities): women often land the primary child-rearer role because “it makes more sense” for a father to keep his job because - guess what? - he earn significantly more.

Wow, these are great and sobering graphics! So many ways to present forms of the wealth gap.

Really appreciated the stats and points you made on all the wealth gaps that exist Allison. Don't even get me started on Elon's comp! What were those shareholders possibly thinking in approving that?

It’s unfathomable to me…. There is not way this is not some kind of breach of something. 😅

Such a good question! No clear answer, some of it may be on account of pandemic-related support and tax credits, also increased workforce participation, and also maybe (sadly) getting inheritances during the pandemic. Given the retrenchment of government support (not to mention the growing hostility to women in the workplace), the numbers may go down again. But inheritances will continue to increase given the "great wealth transfer" that we are experiencing.

So great once again Allison. Do you know what accounted for the quite spectacular gains of single women between 2019 and 2022? Is it that men actually did worse during the pandemic or something more hopeful?
